About us
For several years, a group of railway enthusiasts from all over Germany has shared a common vision: to return a Class 01.10 (012), in the form of 01 1104, to service in authentic, unaltered condition.
Once the basic outline of this ambitious project had been worked out and the main components of 01 1104 had been examined and assessed, the time had come in December 2010 to give the undertaking a proper institutional framework by founding the association "Faszination Dampf e. V.".
Our aims
The purpose of the association is to promote public education, science and industrial heritage, in particular the history of railway engineering.
- Preservation and operation of express passenger steam locomotive 01 1104 in working order
- Care of further historic rolling stock and railway infrastructure
- Archiving of railway history documents in pictures, sound and writing
- Supporting others in preserving evidence of engineering history
- Cooperation with railway societies and foundations
The locomotive
At the heart of our work is a Class 01.10 express passenger steam locomotive – one of the most powerful and elegant steam locomotives ever to run on German rails.
Through their voluntary commitment, our members keep this piece of engineering history alive. Whether on special trains or at events – we bring people and steam locomotives together.
Become a supporter
The association offers you the opportunity to support the preservation and operation of express passenger steam locomotive 01 1104 – hands-on at the locomotive, as a supporting member or with a donation; on the technical side, behind the scenes from afar or directly with tools in hand; in metalwork, woodwork or office work.
